- A misspelled bank name or strange website address.
- Messages claiming your account will be blocked urgently.
- Unexpected rewards, refunds or prizes.
- Requests for an OTP, UPI PIN or card PIN.
- Requests to install an unknown app or screen-sharing tool.
🧠 Test your awareness
You receive a message: “Your bank account will be blocked in 10 minutes. Click this link to verify your account.” What should you do?
Correct action: Don't click.
Open your bank's official app yourself or type its verified website address. Contact the bank using the number on its official website or your bank card.
✅ Protect your account
- Never disclose your OTP, UPI PIN or banking password.
- Check the complete domain before opening a link.
- Never approve an unexpected collect request.
- Use your bank's official app and enable transaction alerts.
- If money is lost to cyber fraud in India, contact 1930 promptly and report it at cybercrime.gov.in.
